Pam and Family
I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since I did this family’s portraits. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? That question is one of the things I love about getting to do photography. I can freeze time. What’s your superpower?! These kids have grown, and were full of plenty of personality for their session. Of course, we took some posed portraits, but once those were out of the way, my goal was to let these kids be themselves and capture genuine moments. And with an abundance of childhood energy and fun, I had lots to work with!

Lori, Jake, Eli, and Lily
This mom and I have a bajillion mutual friends on social media and have talked on and off about scheduling a photo session for the last year or so. A few weeks ago, after seeing me photograph yet another mutual friend, she finally decided she was ready to schedule her family’s session. Lori also confessed that the reason she had hesitated is because she was concerned her chaotic family wouldn’t do well with a portrait session and thus it wouldn’t be worth their while. I said, great! Let’s do it! I love chaos, bring it on! We spent a good deal of time chatting and strategizing beforehand, and on the day of, this mom took the lead with regards to just letting go and having fun with her family, and IT WAS MAGICAL!!!
Lifestyle photography is really organized chaos. It’s not just running wild, because that would have everyone all over the frame and would not make for pleasing composition. It’s about connecting, creating moments, and letting those moments of connection evolve. When that happens, I just sit back and capture So You!

Christina and Eammon welcome Lincoln
I always enjoy photographing newborns in their homes, but there’s definitely something to be said for getting outdoors as a new family, especially in the lovely Florida ‘winter’ weather! And for a baby like Lincoln who was awake for our entire hour together, a new environment gave him plenty to look at! At the end, I gave it one last shot to hopefully capture him having a sleepy moment on dad’s chest, and he instead gave me some intense tummy time action. That is one strong baby, like his mama (who I know from the gym)! He did the usual baby activities of eating and others requiring diaper changes, but these parents handled it all like pros, with a sense of calm and love for each other and their new baby. Thank you for inviting me to freeze time in your first few weeks together, and I hope to see more of Lincoln as he grows!
