Danya, Blondine, Rennai, Dena, and Christina - Regal Homes: South Florida Headshot Photographer

This shoot was very serendipitous.  Last night, I was supposed to be doing an engagement session, which was rescheduled because the bride-to-be's make-up artist had to cancel.  And her friend was in need of a photographer for her real estate team's headshots, because the one they had scheduled had to cancel.
Danya and I spoke on the phone to discuss her team's vision for the shoot.  She said they were meeting at a home in Deerfield to get ready, and wanted to do the shoot there.  My first thought was, "What?  You want me to shoot where?  You don't want to do this at a park?".

The weather ended up being really overcast, and being able to shoot both indoors and out at their home and their neighbor's gave us some great variety for this session, including some awesome bougainvillea which was in bloom.  Don't these ladies look lovely?!

Sandi, Josh, Evan, and Leah

Sandi and I have worked together for the better part of a decade now, and over the years we've become good friends.  I've enjoyed watching her family grow.  She always proudly displays her family photos on her desk, and I noticed they needed some updating.  So, I encouraged her to schedule a shoot, and she happily agreed.

We met this evening at Orchid Park in Coral Springs.  It's a new location for me, but has been on my radar since a friend of mine had her pictures taken there.  It lived up to our expectations and gave us some great lighting and great backgrounds to shoot with.

Unfortunately, I had left my backpack in my car with my wallet and some jewelry inside, and that was stolen while we were shooting.  Coming home to these smiling faces cheered me up though, as my items are just items that can be replaced, but these memories will last forever (as soon as I get them upload and backed up that is) ;)

Anderson's Newborn Session

I was lucky enough to capture these new parents' maternity session here, and as you can see from the images and read in the blog post, it was pretty amazing.  We were actually planning to get together to take some more maternity pictures, but baby Anderson decided to make an early appearance.  On his 4th week, which would have been around his due date, I got to meet this little guy and photograph him with his proud parents.

As I was leaving, dad asked what I thought of the pictures we'd captured, and I said, "I'm not worried with you guys."  He said, "I bet you say that to everyone."  I told him really, I don't.  I thought about it on the way home, and I realized why this couple is such a pleasure to photograph.  In addition to being comfortable in front of the camera, taking direction well, and being good-looking,  there's just something about their love for each other, and now their son, that no matter how I pose you, is hard to fake.  And theirs is real.  And when I take their picture, I know I've captured something really beautiful.

A big congrats to this family!  And I hope I continue to be the lucky photographer who gets to capture this little man as he grows.

Donna, Michael, Mason, and Madelyn

Donna and I first started talking about scheduling this shoot over the holidays towards the end of last year. We had to reschedule a few times due to kids' colds and work conflicts, and we finally met over the weekend to capture this family. Dad got pulled away for work, but mom didn't reschedule this time, and I'm so glad she made that choice. Now she will have these beautiful memories of her with her kids at this age, and we have motivation to include dad next time!

We overcame the challenge of coordinating all 3 kids to look at the camera at the same time with some music and creative posing.  You wouldn’t know it from these pictures, but Madelyn was fussy in between most of these shots.  Donna was right there comforting her and positioning her back in front of the camera, and her persistence paid off.  We even managed to get a perfectly executed sunset silhouette. Success!

Trisha, Avi, Aaron, Jonah, and XX or XY?

Congrats to this family, who will be growing by one this summer. Trisha saw the gender reveal I had photographed for our mutual friend here, and thought it would be a great way to capture her gender reveal to their two boys. We met at the park and had a great time opening the box, and taking photos with all of the appropriately colored things inside.
